Gibsonia Woman Hurt in Motorcycle Crash; Driver Charged

An Allison Park man was charged with drunken driving and aggravated assault with a vehicle after crashing his motorcycle off Interstate 376 East. 

Joshua Shoff, 32, earlier this month was charged with three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, accidents involving death or injury of another and aggravated assault with a vehicle.   said Shoff crashed his motorcycle near the Interstate 376 Montour Run Road exit, critically injuring his passenger. 

Police said Shoff was driving eastbound at about 10 p.m. May 28 on the interstate when his motorcycle hit a pile of debris, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Shoff's passenger, Candace Pisarksi, 26, of Gibsonia, was thrown from the motorcycle and seriously injured in the crash.

Shoff was formally charged Aug. 5, according to court records. 

Pisarski was transported to Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side after the crash. Police said her injuries included brain shearing, a broken femur and a dislocated shoulder. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

A hospital spokesman said Pisarski was no longer listed as a patient at the hospital. 

Shoff was transported to Allegheny General and treated with skin grafts after the crash, according to police.

He also was charged with driving without insurance, driving with an expired license and driving without proper vehicle registration. 

Shoff's preliminary hearing will be Sept. 13 in Coraopolis District Court. 

  • Julie C. Polito, 35, of Pittsburgh was charged Aug. 15 with theft by deception, three counts of writing bad checks and access device fraud. The time and location of the arrest were not available. 
  • Gregory Alan Dierker, 28, of Moon was charged at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 with criminal solicitation, possession of drug paraphernalia and harassment, on Cypress Drive.
