Fire in Mooncrest Damages Shed

A fire that started at a Juniper Drive home Wednesday evening in Moon destroyed a shed but was extinguished before causing further damage.

The fire started at 211 Juniper Drive about 4:30 p.m. when neighbors said the high-reaching flames were visible from other portions of the township.

Moon Fire Chief John Scott said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The shed resulted in a loss of about $500, he said, adding that nothing was stored inside the building.

The fire did not spread to a nearby rowhouse consisting of three units.

Moon firefighters were assisted by Coraopolis, Crescent Township, Groveton in Robinson, Cochran Hose Co. in Sewickley and Valley Ambulance.
