Moon Police: Coraopolis Plumber Pockets Jewelry After House Call

Moon Police have charged a Coraopolis plumber's assistant with stealing an engagement ring valued at $2,000 and other pieces of jewelry from homes where he was making repairs. 

Matthew Edward Seretti, 30, of McKees Rocks, took jewelry including a wedding band, gold chains, and watches in February from two Moon Township homes where he was working, Moon Township Police allege. 

Charges Seretti faces include theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, according to a criminal complaint. 

A Moon Township man said he discovered multiple pieces of his wife's jewelry missing from their home shortly after Seretti, who was employed by the Fourth Avenue-based Klug Plumbing, performed repairs at their home. 

The items, including gold rings, chains and a watch, were valued at a total of $1,115. A key to the man's home was also stolen, according to a criminal complaint. 

Police encouraged the man to contact gold exchange stores in the area, including American Coin Rarities in Coraopolis.

After contacting the Fifth Avenue gold exchange shop, the man was able to identify pieces of jewelry belonging to his wife. Store management said the items were brought in and sold by a man identified as Matthew Seretti. 

Seretti, who is also charged with pocketing an engagement ring and wedding ring from a second Moon Township home where he was working, turned himself in on a warrant on Feb. 25. 

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 19.
