Charity Volunteer from Moon Faces Trial for Theft

Joshua DeNinno, of Moon Township, is accused of taking money from a Pittsburgh-based charity.

A man from Moon Township accused of stealing more than $61,000 from the charity Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council will face a trial on charges of theft and misapplication of trust.

Joshua DeNinno, 34, of Fernvue Drive, is accused of stealing the money from the charity, which "promotes charitable estate planning," beginning in 2009.

The Allegheny District Attorney's office has charged DeNinno with moving money from the charity's bank account to his own, according to court records.

The charity discovered discrepancies in its accounting in 2011, and reported the fraud to police. DeNinno worked as a volunteer treasurer for the organization and was using funding from the organization to pay for personal expenses.

DeNinno, who appeared in Coraopolis District Court earlier this month, is scheduled to face a formal arraignment on May 6.
