Charges Dropped Against West Allegheny Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault

The Allegheny County District Attorney's office says the victim changed her story.

Charges have been dropped against a West Allegheny teacher and wrestling coach who was accused of having sex with a then-underage student.

William Morosetti, 28, of Coraopolis, a high school math teacher and assistant wrestling coach was accused of furnishing alcohol to a former female student and having sex with her at least five times at his home and the home of his father in 2012.

Mike Manko, spokesman for the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette there were some "evidentiary issues" moving forward, and that the victim had changed her story, "which substantially effected the original facts of the case."

Morosetti, who was suspended from work, was charged with six counts of institutional sexual assault of a minor, according to court records. He was first charged by Allegheny County Police in January. The charges were dropped last week.

The Post Gazette reports that Morosetti remains suspended without pay from his teaching and coaching jobs.

West Allegheny School District spokeswoman Karen Ruhl wrote the P-G in an email that the district could not discuss the case, but did say that he was still employed "pending the outcome of labor arbitration." Her email did not elaborate.
