Teen Driver With Recent Permit Crashes into Robinson Bank; No One Hurt

The First National Bank branch on Steubenville Pike remains closed after the accident, but the drive-through window is open.

A Robinson Township teen who obtained her driver's permit two weeks ago crashed the car she was driving into the side of a bank on Steubenville Pike while trying to park outside Monday afternoon, Robinson Township Police said.

Robinson Patrolman Noel Pilewski said no one was hurt when the car crashed through a window and wall into an office area of the First National Bank branch at 6298 Steubenville Pike.

The bank remains closed, but employees said the drive-through window remains open for customers.

The driver of the car, Elizabeth Pistritto, 18, of Robinson, said she obtained her driver's permit two weeks ago and was accompanied Monday by an adult, as required. She said she'd intended to go to the bank to make a transaction and was trying to park outside when instead she crashed into the building at 2:40 p.m.

Pistritto said she believed she'd shifted the car's gears into park. She had not, and the car instead went over a curb barrier and through a side window of the bank.

"Before I knew it, I was in the building," she said.

The car came to a stop in an office area rather than the central portion set aside for transactions. Police confirmed Pistritto's account.
