Beaver County Brothers Charged in Video Store Robberies

Police have arrested and charged two Beaver County brothers with robbery and other offenses in connection with the holdups of o stores in Moon and Scott earlier this month.

Jerome Cutler, 23, and Willie Cutler, 21, were arrested Tuesday, police said. They are in jail on $100,000 straight bond each, according to court records.

The brothers are suspects in the armed robbery of the Family Video store on Fifth Avenue on Aug. 22 and in a second holdup of a Family Video branch on Washington Avenue in Scott, near Carnegie. In addition, store officials have said they believe the cases may be linked to a robbery several weeks ago of a Family Video store in New Brighton.

Investigators from the and Scott police departments on Tuesday charged Jerome Cutler, of Beaver Falls, with robbery, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy and other offenses.

Willie Cutler, of Greensburg, was charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy and possessing instruments of crime. 

In the Moon robbery,  said two men carrying guns and wearing black hooded sweatshirts, with black bandanas covering their faces, robbed the video store. They pointed a gun at a store employee's face and demanded all of the money in the store's cash register, police said.

Two store employees were the only people in the store when the robbers entered. No one was hurt.

Police said the suspects ordered the employees to sit on the floor after the employees had handed over the store's cash drawer, which contained about $500. 

The men were arrested at 7 a.m. Tuesday along Pesavento Drive in Bridgeville. A resident saw them sleeping in a parked car and reported the incident to .

Upon hearing their description, Scott police assisted Bridgeville officers in chasing the two men on foot and stopping them on nearby Union Street. 

After the brothers were taken into custody, police were able to recover cash, bandanas, glasses and a shoe as evidence. Investigators later identified one of the robbers and put out his description to area police departments.

Police said the firearms used in the robbery were BB guns. 

Moon investigators said Jerome Cutler waived his Miranda rights and provided authorities with a videotaped confession. In it, he said the brothers escaped from the Moon video store with the help of a getaway driver. He said the driver's 2-year-old daughter was in the vehicle at the time of the robbery.
