Visions for Vacancy: Former Kenny Ross Dealership

What should move into this University Boulevard building?

Vacant buildings and unused storefronts are eyesores, but an empty storefront can also be an opportunity. You don't need to be a commercial developer or city planner—or have money to invest in a business project—to have the next great idea.

The former car dealership at 5252 University Boulevard has sat vacant since its former occupant, Kenny Ross Toyota, moved down the road in August. to its new location.

The building, which sits on a 3.5 acre-lot, is now available for leasing.

Now we want to know: What business would benefit the Moon-area community? How could this space better serve you and your neighbors? If you had your pick, what business would move into this University Boulevard property?

Share your thoughts, ideas and concerns in the comments. Tell us what your vision is for this Moon Township vacancy.

To help maintain the famous "Runway" along University Boulevard, the former Kenny Ross Toyota location should remain a car dealership. But instead of one brand of car, it should offer a selection of relatively unknown foreign cars made in India, Mexico, Russia, etc. These vehicles would be available for sell, lease and rental.

.....And right next door to the "International Auto Mart" that Mr. Crytzer suggests, they could also build a satellite office for the unemployment office.

I think GET-GO should buy it and move their trafic pattern nightmare of a "convenience" store to this location so that people wont have to risk their lives getting in/out after they endured the stress of jockeying to get gas or enter the store. Then they can use the current site to train future convenience store owners how"NOT TO" design and traffic pattern a site!

I think that Moon could use a unique mid-scale restaurant like Tamari, Azul, or Andoras. We could also use a craft/school supply store and a good bakery or a specialty food store (loafers, Panera, whole foods). I really wish we could have made Target work instead of Walmart, who hasn't built and now it is just an eyesore. Or How about something that is appealing to the college crowd?
