Bites Near Us: Sauce

The Bridgeville eatery serves up an American-style menu with a twist.

If you’re exploring the area for a new place to eat, take the Parkway to Bridgeville where you’ll find a modern burger joint with an old-school feel.Sauce, on Washington Pike, will transport you back in time to an an old-fashioned diner of a bygone era.

The setting is intimate, the crowd is fun, and the food is delicious. The main dining area is very narrow and resembles a long hallway split in two. The black vinyl semi-circular booths, which are open to the center of the restaurant, line one side, while the other side consists of an elongated, chic bar.

Although the bar has no draft beer, it offers an extensive drink list, with a wide selection of bottled beer and daily happy hour specials.

The exuberant atmosphere aside, Sauce serves up some tasty and unique dishes. Though the name might suggest it, the menu is not Italian but instead decidedly American-inspired.Almost every entrée is served with some type of sauce. The "Get em Loaded Fries a la Sauce" appetizer, $7, is the perfect way to start your meal. The fries are topped with bacon, cheese, sour cream and crispy onions.

Sauce is known for its wood-fire burgers and chicken, and the dishes do not disappoint. The menu offers more than a dozen preparations, such as the Buffalo BBQ and Pancetta Bacon and Gorgonzola. All burgers and chicken are $9 and come with one side. Patch recommends the scrumptious, creamy Mac and Cheese, which is served in a skillet.

The menu also offers salads, sandwiches, wraps, skewers and skillets. The eatery has a children’s menu and a dessert menu.

Sauce is open 11:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday. The bar is open until 1:30 a.m. each night.

They just put up a new sign and now have a seating area outside. Good stuff.

I'm having trouble deciphering/accessing complete posts above. I have not been able to follow theRead More Boards meetings since relocating a year ago to TN. The fact that it took them til 3 am to ok WalMart's plans for the space, makes me think it was contentious, as it should have been. Many of us with experience of WalMart and the existing problems with traffic in the area remain appalled to hear WalMart's moving ahead.
