Kenny Ross Dealership in Moon Earns LEED Certification
The facility across from Sheetz was constructed to become the only LEED-certified car dealership in Western Pennsylvania.
Kenny Ross Toyota Dealership in Moon earned its LEED certification this year after opening the new University Boulevard facility last year.
The 48,000 square-foot-buidling, which sits on 10 acres of land just off the Interstate 376 Business Route, was constructed to become the only LEED-certified--Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design--car dealership in Western Pennsylvania.
The U.S. Green Building Council sets environmental criteria for buildings to meet the certification and the company applied for the certification, which takes awhile.
"There really isn't anything in here that you don't touch, that we didn't have to think about," Anthony J. Ross, president and CEO of East Liberty-based Ross Development Co. told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. He handled the real estate development of the site.
The dealership leased its former building at 5252 University for the five years before it closed in August 2012.
