Walgreens is selling blankets starting at $2.99 which shoppers can donate to U.S. Troops currently serving in Afghanistan. The blankets will be donated to Operation Troop Appreciation (www.operationtroopappreciation.org) and shipped overseas.

Soldiers serving in Afghanistan experience very harsh terrain and weather conditions. During the winter, waves of intense cold occur, lasting for several days, and one may have to endure a cold of −11 °F, rising to a high of 18 °F.
Our troops are issued a cold-weather sleeping bag, but sometimes that is not enough to keep them warm. The need for support and appreciation from the home front is critical for our troops, as many are facing their 3rd, 4th, 5th, even 6th Holiday season away from their families. They serve in dangerous areas, live in harsh conditions, and battle homesickness every day.
