'Millennial' Bayer Employees Attend 'One Young World' in Pittsburgh

Local professionals, including one former Moon resident, will attend this year's Pittsburgh-based One Young World summit.

The Robinson Township-based Bayer Corp. will sponsor ten employees as delegates at this year's One Young World summit in Pittsburgh.

The One Young World nonprofit hosts its annual gathering of Millennials from Oct. 18 to Oct. 22 in the city. Former President Bill Clinton will serve as the event's keynote speaker on Thursday.

More than 1,200 young professionals and leaders, age 18 to 30, from across the world will gather to discuss global issues, ranging from human rights to sustainable development.

The attendees will then spearhead projects in their home cities, focused on realizing goals discussed during the event.

Bayer and are among the event's leading sponsors. Much of the summit will take place at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Ten Bayer employees were selected to represent the pharmacuetical company during the event, including 27-year-old Eric Giles, formerly of Moon, who works as a Bayer senior research and development specialist, according to a company statement.

Other Bayer attendees from the company's Robinson offices are Kassie Leuschel, 25; Ian Nash, 24; Erik Christianson, 27; Marissa Lee, 26;  Caitlin Abraham, 23; and Jenny Allison, 28.

RMU will also sponsor several recent alums at the event.

Founded in 2009, the London-based organization's annual summit is among the largest gatherings of youth in the world, second only to the Olympics.
