UPDATE: About 350 Duquesne Light Customers Without Power

Crews are in the process of restoring power. Penn Power also is reporting a handful of outages in Adams and Pine townships.

As of 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, about 350 Duquesne Light customers are without power as strong winds and rain from Superstorm Sandy sweep through western Pennsylvania.

This is down from a high of about 650 customers reported without power Monday night.

Duquesne Light crews are in the process of restoring power by removing trees and repairing downed wires. Company spokesman Brian Knavish said the outages are scattered throughout Allegheny and Beaver counties.

Duquesne Light also warns that downed wires are a safety hazard and should be avoided because of the risk of electrical shock and injury.

In addition, residents are advised to not drive over or go near downed wires.

System restoration times are unknown at this time, as the damage to the electrical system is still being assessed.

Residents are also asked to please report any outages by calling Duquesne Light at 1-888-393-7000 or by visiting www.duquesnelight.com.

In the Cranberry area, an outage map shows that less than 5 customers in Adams Township and none in Marshall Township are without power. On Monday night, about 27 customers in Adams and 33 customers in Marshall had no power. There also are 15 customers—down from 24—in Pine Township reporting power loss.
