Township Crews Clear Trees from Intersection

Strong wind gusts temporarily shut down traffic lights at the intersection of Beaver Grade and Ewing roads.

crews cleared debris and tree limbs from the intersection of Beaver Grade and Ewing road after last night's strong winds.

Township Public Works Director Jim Henkemeyer said wind gusts caused a pine tree to topple over onto power lines in the intersection, resulting in a temporary power outage in the traffic signals at about 6:30 a.m.

By 7 a.m., public works crews had restored power to the traffic signals with a generator. Henkemeyer said isolated power outages have occurred in homes off Beaver Grade Road. Duquesne Light could not be reached for comment, but power in the intersection has been restored.
