Barry Balaski, who most recently served as the assistant principal at Blackhawk High School, was hired by the district on March 14. He will replace Principal Michael Hausser, who will retire at the end of this school year.

Construction on a 43,000-square-foot military commissary on the corner of University Boulevard and Interstate 376 has been postponed, according to the U.S. Defense Commissary Agency.

A public affairs officer for the agency said Congress has not approved funding for the project. He declined to comment on a potential opening date for the facility, which will serve as a grocery store and trading post for military personnel throughout the region.

A woman charged with murder in Ohio was arrested early Wednesday morning at a local hotel by . 

Latoya Stoudmire, 23, of Cleveland, was taken into custody at 6 a.m. at the  on Marketplace Boulevard. Stoudmire was arrested on a warrant for homicide by stabbing stemming from an incident in East Cleveland, according to a police report.
