After months of contention on the quiet residential street, two men have moved into a controversial group residence on Greenlea Drive.

Transitional Services Inc., a Homestead-based mental-health care provider, purchased the two-story brick home at 162 Greenlea Drive in October with plans to use it as a Fairweather Lodge, a group residence for people with a history of mental illness.

Neighbors on the street, however,  that use of the home and have repeatedly pleaded with Moon officials to block its opening.

The new residents of the home declined to be interviewed, saying they were advised not to speak to the media. Transitional Services CEO Sharon Alberts could not be reached for comment. 

The Moon Board of Supervisors on Wednesday night hired the Pittsburgh-based Tucker Arensberg  law firm to revise the township's oil and gas drilling ordinances.

The Allegheny County Redevelopment Authority announced it will begin soliciting bids to develop the site of a planned new 43,000-square-foot military commissary in Moon Township.

The grocery store for the region's military personnel will be built on  county-owned property at the intersection of University Boulevard and the Interstate 376 Business Loop, adjacent to the McGarity Reserve Center in Moon.

Officers with the Pittsburgh Police SWAT Team startled a family living in a house in East Liberty when they raided it Thursday while attempting to gather evidence against a former city detective charged with  

SWAT officers kicked down the door of the home on Collins Avenue while executing a search warrant at what had been the home of Talib Kevin Ghafoor, 55. The former Pittsburgh narcotics detective was charged with felony prostitution offenses in Moon in March. 

When officers entered the home, they found a woman, her 14-year-old son and three young foster children. The woman, who was not identifed, told police her family recently switched homes with Ghafoor.
