State Department Issues Travel Warning

There is a heightened potential for anti-American violence following the death of Osama bin Laden.

Those with plans to travel should use extra caution over the next few months.

According to the department, there is an enhanced potential for anti-American violence.

"Given the uncertainty and volatility of the current situation, U.S. citizens in areas where recent events could cause anti-American violence are strongly urged to limit their travel outside of their homes and hotels and avoid mass gatherings and demonstrations," a statement from the department read.

"U.S. citizens should stay current with media coverage of local events and be aware of their surroundings at all times."

The travel alert will remain in place until Aug. 1.

"Related to Pittsburgh, there have been no changes in security," said JoAnn Jenny, communications director for the Airport Authority. "The travel advisory and news will not have an impact here at the local level for travelers."
