RMU Hosts Conference to Spur Girls' Interest in Science

The fifth annual conference focuses on showcasing female work in math and science professions

today will host its annual Exploring Your Horizons conference for school-age girls. 

The event, now in its fifth year, is aimed at spurring middle school and high school girls' interests in math and science-related professions. 

The all-day conference will feature workshops hosted by the Pittsburgh Zoo, Carnegie Science Center and RMU's Chapter of Women Engineers.

The event is organized by RMU's School of Engineering, Mathematics and Science. The university reports that while the majority of undergraduate students at universities nationwide are women, only 38 percent of undergraduate degrees awarded in math and science fields are to women.
