National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Warning

Motorists are advised to avoid travel this evening.

Motorists might want to think twice before taking to township roads this evening.

The in Moon has issued a winter storm warning from 7 p.m. today to 1 p.m. Saturday, calling for a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow.

The service said up to a quarter of an inch of ice and 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected to accumulate, making travel conditions treacherous. Downed trees and power lines due to heavy ice accumulation is possible.

Winter storm warnings are issued when weather conditions are expected to make travel hazardous or impossible, according to the service. Report travel conditions to the National Weather Service by calling 1-877-633-6772.

The winter storm watch issued for the remainder of today has been revoked.
