Moon School Year Extends to June 14

School board will vote to change the academic calendar at an upcoming meeting.

The tentatively plans to wrap up its academic year on June 14, according to the district's spokeswoman.

Megan Gallagher, public relations officer for the district, said the Moon Area School Board will vote on the revised calendar at an upcoming meeting. The board is scheduled to meet next on April 25.

In December, the board voted to end the school year on to make up days missed during a 13-day teachers strike in November that led to the closing of Moon schools.  Since revising the calendar, however, the district has been forced to cancel classes twice due to weather conditions and a bus garage fire in Coraopolis.
