Moon Plans Community Recycling Day

The annual event will take place at the Moon Municipal Building.

Moon Township will conduct its annual community recycling day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Moon Municipal Building on Beaver Grade Road.

Proof of Moon residency is required to participate. Residents should have cash on hand to pay for recycling costs. The Moon Environmental Advisory Council is event sponsor.

The following items are examples of what will be collected:

  • Sinks and toilets

  • Cabinets

  • Fireplace mantles

  • Staircases

  • Doors

  • Windows

  • Electronics

    • Computers and printers

    • Copiers

  • Televisions, stereos and radios

  • VCR and DVD players

  • Cell phones

  • Microwaves

  • Computer hard drives, which will be destroyed at no additional fee. Radioactive products will not be accepted.

  • Appliances

    • Dishwashers

    • Clothes washers and dryers

    • Stoves and refrigerators

    • Air conditioners

  • Dehumidifiers

  • A $5 fee will be added for items submitted that contain Freon, such as dehumidifiers, refrigerators and air conditioners

  • Tires

    • Passenger car tires up to 18 inches cost $1 to submit

    • Tires more than 19 inches cost $6 to submit

  • Tires larger than 24 inches will not be accepted
