Moon Obituaries: Business Owner, Educator Remembered

Elaine Loucks Restad

Elaine Loucks Restad, 68, of Moon and formerly North Dakota, died on Easter Sunday at Heritage Valley Sewickley. She was born in Fargo, ND on June 9, 1943 and was the wife of Lynn B. Restad for 44 years.

Restad was the mother of Christopher Restad and Jill Lucy and a grandmother of three.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Mayville State University and was an English instructor in classrooms from Montana to California.

The family requests no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.

Kevin James McAlister 

Kevin James McAlister, 56, of Moon Township, died unexpectedly on April 3 at his business, McAlister Landscaping in Moon.

He was born in Sewickley on Sept. 12, 1955, and was the husband of Hope Joyce McAlister for 35 years. McAlister was the father of Ryan McAlister and Patrick McAlister and devoted to his dogs Ozzie and Riley. He was also a longtime member of St. Joseph Church in Coraopolis.

McAlister was a 1973 graduate of Cornell High School and a 1977 graduate of Robert Morris University.

He gave back to the community and spending time with his family and friends.

Services were conducted earlier this month at Copeland Funeral Home in Moon Township and at the Chapel at . Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.
