Get Out: Art, Reading or Ice Skating

1.
When/Where: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Sewickley.
Why Go: Sweetwater opens its doors to showcase its programs, students and teachers. There will be a reception for the Student/Instructor Exhibition, and teachers from a variety of the center's classes will provide demonstrations and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Admission: Free.
2. ANIMAL FRIENDS TELETHON
When/Where: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Ohio Township.
Why Go: Celebrate Animal Friend’s five-year anniversary in its new home. There will be adoption specials, online auctions, giveaways, local celebrities and more.
Admission: Donations will be accepted.
3. THE EVOLUTION OF IRISH GARDENS
When/Where: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Moon Township Public Library.
Why Go: The presentation weaves through about 14 gardens in Ireland, some of which are as much as 250 years old. The speaker is Elise Keeley, who has a bachelor's of fine arts from the San Francisco Art Institute.

4. STARS ON ICE
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh.
Why Go: See the stars celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show. Skaters include Evan Lysacek, Sasha Cohen and Michael Weiss.

5. RELAX AND READ
When/Where: 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sewickley Public Library.
Why Go: Let the kids unwind by reading aloud a good story and enjoying a snack with other children. The event is for children in first through third grades.
Admission: Free. Registration is required.
