Moon Area High School students head to Prom.

Break out your corsage and call up a limo: The will hold its Junior Prom Friday at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott

The event's promenade will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Moon Area High School auditorium with the dance following at 7 p.m. After-Prom events will also be held at the hotel from 11:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

The Moon Comprehensive Plan Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Municipal Building.

The committee, which has been appointed by the township Board of Supervisors, works to develop a plan for residential and commercial development in the township for the next 10 years. 

The township Zoning Hearing Board will also meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Township Municipal Building. 

Therapy dogs stop by the Moon Township Public Library

The will hold its regular Paws for Reading session at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Children of all ages are invited to stop by and read a book with Zeke, a therapy dog. The class aims to help kids improve reading skills and build confidence in the classroom. 

The event is free to attend, but participants should sign up ahead of time by contacting librarian Megan Goode at 412-269-0334. 

Moon to celebrate Earth Day at Robin Hill Park. 

The will host its annual Earth Day Celebration Sunday.

Residents are invited to stop by Robin Hill Park at 1 p.m. Sunday for the festivities.  The event will feature an interactive exhibit from the National Aviary in Pittsburgh and a climbing wall, among other activities.

MCA-TV to offer free television production classes.

Moon's community access television station will offer free training sessions at its Beaver Grade Road studio. The hands-on classes teach residents the basics of camera operation, lighting and audio. 

The training consists of four classes with MCA-TV staff. Residents will be ready to work behind the scenes at the station's studio after completing the courses.

Classes, which are free and take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m., are scheduled for the following dates: 

  • April 19
  • April 26
  • May 3
  • May 10
