Delays Expected on Interstate 79, Route 22

Road work will likely affect traffic on local roads.

Motorists taking to Interstate 79 this weekend should expect delays.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reports that traffic on Interstate 79 southbound will be reduced to one lane through Robinson and Kennedy townships.

Roadwork on the thoroughfare is expected to cause delays May 13 to May 16, weather permitting. The southbound on-ramp off Route 51 will be closed during the construction.

All delays will take place between the Neville Island Bridge and the Crafton-Route 60 interchange. Crews will be performing milling and paving work on the road as a part of a $4.3 million project that started last year.

Single-lane traffic also will occur on Route 22 near the Kelso Road overpass in North Fayette. Construction in the area will reduce traffic to one lane through June 3 while crews build a new overhead bridge.
