Fear, bad dogs, and school boards

Every neighborhood I've lived in—every one—there has been at least one house with "the bad dog."

That's the house with the dog that bites. You're always careful around that house. Of course you don't get nailed every time you pass it. But you're always nervous. And you know that if you hang around that house often enough, inevitably you will be bitten.

I read the P-G: Yes, I admit that. Not because I agree with most of their editorial stances, but for the best reason I can think of for a red-blooded Western PA born and bred guy: They have better sports coverage.

Now we don't get throughly destroyed EVERY year, but just like the houses with the bad dogs, I'm always on alert for the attack, because I know eventually I'm gonna get bit.

Latest case in point is the guy who went before the board and promised that even when the monumental amount of construction is over not only won't the taxes go down, they will GO UP EVERY YEAR FOR THE NEXT FIVE!!!

So do you wonder why I'm nervous every Thursday?
