Rep. Murphy Joins in Welcoming Rolls-Royce to Moon Township

Rolls-Royce purchased the Moon-based PKMJ nuclear consulting organization earlier this year.

US. Rep. Tim Murphy took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Aug. 13 to help unveil the new Rolls-Royce operation in Moon.

“We welcome Rolls-Royce to the greater Pittsburgh region and look forward to the anticipated growth at the newly expanded Moon Township facility," Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, said in a statement. 

The visit included a tour of the former PKMJ nuclear-services facility, recently purchased by Rolls-Royce. PKMJ Technical Services was established as a nuclear-consulting organization providing software and engineering solutions.

Rolls-Royce purchased PKMJ in January 2013. Since the acquisition, Rolls-Royce has expanded the Moon-based facility by 5,200 square feet. 

PKMJ employs more than 200 full-time employees. The expansion will allow the business to recruit 25 additional employees from in and around the local area and facilitate long-term growth.

PKMJ Technical Services was established as a nuclear consulting organization providing software and engineering solutions. It was incorporated in 1982, based in Moon, and today it employs over 200 full-time employees. 

Over the last five years, PKMJ has witnessed a 25 percent growth per annum. Its engineers are highly-skilled and average around 25 years’ experience.

As for Rolls-Royce, the global company has a large, highly experienced nuclear skills base. The nuclear services market is an important sector for Rolls-Royce nuclear business. Its investment in PKMJ will facilitate accelerated growth in this market for the combined businesses.
