QBE First Lays Off Employees in Moon Township

The company eliminated local jobs last month due to marketing conditions.

A Moon Township-based insurance company recently eliminated positions with the layoffs of 26 employees.

Paula Symons, spokeswoman for QBE North America, said in an email statement that "due to market conditions," 26 positions were eliminated on July 18 at QBE’s Moon Township operation.

"Eliminating any positions is an extremely difficult decision, which QBE takes very seriously," Symons said.

Employees were offered severance and outplacement packages to make the transition as smooth as possible, she said.

Symons said QBE remains committed to the Moon facility, located off Business I-376 in the Airside Business Park.
