Nearby: Village Candy to Host Cream Soda Tasting

The event is free and open to the public.

If you're looking to try a good soda, Village Candy is planning a soda-tasting this time featuring cream sodas.

The tasting is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, in the old-time candy shop at 344 Beaver St., Sewickley. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required by emailing: cream@villagecandy.com.

According to Doug Alpern, owner of Village Candy, a good cream soda should remind you of "the very best vanilla ice cream float."

Alpern says new vintages will be unleashed for this tasting for the very first time in Pittsburgh and possibly in Pennsylvania, including Jersey Cream and Bedford’s Cream from Port Angeles, WA.

Tasters will have a chance to explore all of the creamy differences.

This is Village Candy's fourth "cream 'o the crop" event.

Village Candy is an old-time, new-fangled retail shop specializing in a wide selection of retro bulk and novelty candy, artisan chocolates, glass bottled pop and candy-themed gifts.
