Moon Tech Company Designs Children's Book App

Appburgh brings a children's book to life on iPad.

If People Had Tails, written by a Beaver County-based author, isn't your typical children's bedtime story.

It has bright illustrations and hidden sound effects, and no paper is involved. The book geared toward pre-kindergarteners is available only on iPads, courtesy of a Moon Township tech start-up.

Appburgh, a new company run by Moon resident Rob Angevine from his home office, designed the book's iPad application, now available on iTunes for $1.99.

The app brings the book—written by children's author and illustrator Georgette Noullet of Baden—to life with narration capabilities and bouncy animation.

"It's all about what would it be like if people had tails," Angevine said. "It goes through what things would be like if humans had tails like animals do."

Appburgh designs mobile apps for Apple products and will soon be expanding to Android. Angevine conceived the company earlier this year.

"I've been in Moon for a while," Angevine said. "I'm just an IT professional looking to branch out."

So far, Appburgh has created two game Apps for iPad: Snooker and Stinkbugs. Both are free to download.

"We're just a start-up company," Angevine said. "We're looking to find niches and development in mobile apps."
