Moon Flight Readies for August Grand Opening

A new Moon business will serve as a hybrid car wash and coffee shop.

Eric Wroblewski said it will be the first business of its kind in Allegheny County: A car and dog wash paired with a drive-through coffee shop.

"Basically, it's very unique," Wroblewski said. "We're giving the public a chance to wash their car and wash their dogs on the same property."

Wroblewski and his brother Scott Wroblewski are preparing to open Moon Flight, a University Boulevard business that will feature five car washing stations and two dog-grooming stations alongside a drive-through coffee service.

The business will open its doors on Aug. 1, Wroblewski said.

"My brother [Scott] lives in Sewickley, and we know that within lower Moon Township there are no car washes," he said. "And we thought it would be a good opportunity, especially with [the location] being right by Sewickley."

Construction on the 3,406 square-foot building, located at the intersection of University Boulevard and Stoops Ferry Road, is expected to wrap up in the coming weeks. Wroblewski said he plans to hire three staff members to operate the facility.

Moon Flight will feature both drive-through and outdoor car wash stations as well as an outdoor space for pet grooming. Patrons can also pick up a cup of freshly brewed coffee from the store's drive-through window. No indoor eating space will be available.

The new business is not affiliated with the former Moon Flight Coffee and Tea House which closed its Beaver Grade Road location in 2009. Wroblewski, who resides in Zelienople, operates a Valero gas station, car wash and convenience store on Main Street in Zelienople, but the hybrid car wash/coffee stop is a first-time venture for the family.

"We're really excited to introduce this business to Moon Township," Wroblewski said.
