JetBlue Adds Boston Flight to Pittsburgh International

On the heels of canceling several flights to the Big Apple, the economy-priced airline adds trips to Boston from Pittsburgh International Airport.

Low-cost airline JetBlue has added a fourth-daily non-stop flight from Boston to Pittsburgh International Airport.

The additional flight will begin on May 1, 2013 and can be booked now on JetBlue.com.

The airliner in November announced it was dropping its Pittsburgh to New York City service, which flew four flights daily through John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The Pittsburgh Business Times reported JetBlue could not turn a profit on the Pittsburgh-to-New York flights.

From the airport's statement:

“The average fare from Pittsburgh to Boston has dropped by 51 percent and can certainly be credited to JetBlue Airways,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority Chairman David Minnotte. “We hope that Pittsburghers will help keep those fares competitive by considering JetBlue for their travel the next time they go to Boston.”

Correction: A previous version of this article stated that JetBlue flew flights from Pittsburgh International to LaGuardia Airport in New York City. The flights flew from Pittsburgh to John F. Kennedy Airport, also in New York City.

JetBlue has NEVER flown from LaGuardia Airport to Pittsburgh. It has however, flown from New York JFK to Pittsburgh which is the service to be discontinued.

Thanks for pointing that out, Nick. We have amended the story with a correction.

I'm having trouble deciphering/accessing complete posts above. I have not been able to follow theRead More Boards meetings since relocating a year ago to TN. The fact that it took them til 3 am to ok WalMart's plans for the space, makes me think it was contentious, as it should have been. Many of us with experience of WalMart and the existing problems with traffic in the area remain appalled to hear WalMart's moving ahead.
