Happy Birthday, Tastykake!

The iconic Pennsylvania bakery turns 100 this week.

Bring on the baked goods and birthday candles: Tastykake is turning 100 this week.

The iconic Philadelphia snack-cake bakery was founded in 1914 by Pittsburgh baker Philip Bauer, who teamed up with Herbert Morris, an egg salesman, to open the Tasty Baking Co., Tastykake explains on its website.

Tastykake was purchased by Flower Foods in 2011, but remains in the Philadelphia Navy Yard, where it moved in 2009. Flower Foods has begun distributing Pennsylvania’s favorite snack cakes nationwide.

Do you have a favorite Tastykake?
