Get Out: See 'Harry Potter' or Support Homeless Children

Why Go: Prepare for the final installment of the Harry Potter series by watching the first half with family and friends on the big screen! Snacks, including popcorn and chocolate frogs, will be available during the viewing.

2. SUMMER MUSIC SERIES AT WOLCOTT PARK

When/Where: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wolcott Park, Sewickley

Why Go: Spend the evening outdoors and eat, shop and listen to the music of Mac Martin and the Dixie Travelers. Be sure to bring a chair or blanket to sit on for the live entertainment. In case of rain, the concert will be held at .

When/Where:  in Sewickley.

Why Go: Celebrate summer reading and support the Homeless Children’s Education Fund by attending this family event. Bring the kids to enjoy games, face painting and a nice cream social donated by our own Sewickley Patch! Plus, local celebrities like ’s Smiley, Elvis -- a penguin from the National Aviary -- and the Steelers’ Brett Keisel are expected to be in attendance.

Price: Free to attend. Donated books as well as monetary donations will be accepted.


4. SOUTHSIDE WORKS EXPOSED

When/Where: 5 to 11 p.m. Friday; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Southside Works

Why Go: There’s something for everyone at the seventh annual celebration. Listen to live music from local artists, watch local dance troupes, browse through clothes at the Sidewalk Sale and sample the local fare.

Price: Free to attend.


5. CORN ROAST KICKOFF

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Soergel’s Orchards Farm Market, Wexford.

Why Go: Take the family out to enjoy delicious, fresh corn straight from the field and have it roasted on site. The kids will enjoy other activities offered at the event, such as live music and pony rides.
