Developers Plan New Robinson Hotel

The new extended-stay facility will open in the Robinson Town Centre, developers say.

Developers will break ground on a 106-room Towne Place Suites Hotel by Marriott at the site of a former cinema in the Robinson Town Centre.

Keith Shugerts, of Essex Hotel Management, said his firm hopes to see work begin on the extended-stay hotel later this fall.

The five-story hotel will sit on 3.16 acres of land in the shopping area located off Park Manor Boulevard, Shugerts said.

It will be geared toward a business clientele staying in the region for extended periods of time. Rooms will be situated as suites with a kitchenette area, Shugerts said. The hotel will also feature an exercise room and indoor pool.

Shugerts said he hopes the facility will attract professionals traveling to the Pittsburgh area to work with companies based in the airport-area region, such as Bayer Corp., Fed Ex and Dick's Sporting Goods

"We will be marketing to area businesses and people traveling to the Pittsburgh area for business," he said.

Shugerts presented initial plans for the hotel Wednesday to Robinson Township commissioners during a public hearing. Commissioners granted a building variance for the project.

Developers will now enter into the township's planning process for the facility. Check back with Patch for more.
