West Hills Art League Wraps up Annual Exhibit

Local artists display their work at the Robin Hill Center.

Juror Barry Jeter said he was looking for something that popped off the walls of the . 

"Breaking the rules is fine as long as you know the rules you are breaking and you're doing it on purpose," said Jeter, a Pittsburgh-based painter tapped to serve as the juror for the West Hills Art League's annual exhibit at the center. 

Members of the organization gathered at Robin Hill Park for the juried portion of the show Thursday night, when Jeter selected his choices for top paintings of the event along with his critiques.

The organization opened its show at the historic township property with a Mother's Day reception, said league president Cindy Gilberti. 

"I was thrilled," Gilberti said of the opening of the event. "We had a really nice turn out and a lot of people "

Gilberti said the group "leaves its door open" to residents interested in fine arts. 

"It's for anyone who enjoys the arts," Gilberti said. "We work to promote arts in the community, and the township really has so many opportunities for people interested in the arts. The township really supports us." 

Participating artist Keith Jones, of Baden, praised the group's collaborative atmosphere. 

"It's our love of painting and continued encouragement of each other as well as our continued education," said Jones, who has been painting for more than 40 years. "That's why you keep coming back."
