Moon Area Hosts PMEA Choral Concert

The concert takes place at 2:30 p.m. today at Moon Area High School.

The top student vocalists from across the region will take part in today's Pennsylvania Music Educator Association's all-state choral festival.

"It's really the cream of the crop performing," said Moon choral teacher Lori Cole. "It's some of the most talented students in the region."

More than 500 students from Western Pennsylvania auditioned to take part in the choral festival—170 students made the final cut.

Cole said today's performance will include Broadway and theatrical songs, as well as examples of "world music."

"Something to please everyone's musical palate," she said.

"For these kids music really is their life," Cole said. "And it gives them a chance to bond with other students who get it."
