Frontier Re-Enactors Visit Coventry Log Cabin

The Old Moon Township Historical Society met Monday, June 3 at the Coventry Log Cabin in Robin Hill Park for a program on frontier life.

Martie and Dale Main, re-enactors at the Oliver Miller Homestead in South Park, presented a program on frontier life, where they discussed history, demonstrated cooking and gave other highlights of pioneer life in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Martie describes herself as "a full-fledged kitchen wench,” who is constantly pursuing old recipes, experimenting and learning. You can find her cooking outdoors most Sunday afternoons either at the bake oven or the fire pit at the Oliver Miller Homestead.

Shortly after moving to Robinson, Dale, who worked for Bayer in computer software and security, noticed a street named Tidball and soon found a family of the same name who confirmed he was related to them. The family recommended he visit the Oliver Miller Homestead, where he traced his ancestry back to 1714. He now re-enacts the role of his five times great-grandfather, William Tidball, at the homestead.
