Whiz Kids: Student Receives Full College Scholarship and 'Green Prom Challenge' Winners

A look at the accomplishments of area students.

Senior receives Seton Hill scholarship

Mara Willette, a senior at received a full scholarship to Seton Hill University. 

Willette maintains a 3.7 QPA, and is a member of the National Honor Society, Art and Literature Club, drama club stage crew and bowling team.

Moon seniors win 'green prom' challenge

Moon Area High School students Allison Murphy, Emily D'Amico, Jessica Peng, Dana Murray, Rebbeca Zane, Delany Padgett, Abby Eberts, Kati Daczowski won first prize in the "Dream Green Prom" challenge, hosted by the Fairchild Chellange at the Phipp.

Moon students head to National Academic Games Tournament

Moon Area High School students have qualified to compete in the 2013 Academic Games Leagues of America National Tournament in North Carolina. Students Rachel Boward, Abby Eberts, Amanda Gilmore, Ashley Hall, Nora Kupiec, Kushi Mallkarjun, Allison Murphy, Dana Murray, Jessica Peng, Aashka Shah, Selin Sinterlikci and Piertari Sulkava placed in the tournament, which is slated to take place at the end of April. 

Moon junior a finalist in photo contest

Rachel Fedosik, a junior at Moon Area High School, has been selected as a finalist in the 33rd annual College and High School Photography Contest from Photographer's Forum magazine.

Montour students inducted into tech honor society

Montour students enrolled at the Parkway West Career and Technology Center have been included included in the National Technical Honor Society. The inductees are: Nicholas Hemki, Jeremy Vennel, Elizabeth Schneider, Danielle Benchoff, Michael Swantek, Jamie Johnston, Sarah Smith, Jeffrey Bowser, Kayla Horner, Alyssa Stengl and Jessica Gonzalez.
