Troops from 171st Air Refueling Wing to Return Home Today
Approximately 20 military personnel are expected to land at Pittsburgh International Airport after supporting no-fly zone over Libya.
More troops from the 171st Air Refueling Wing from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard will be returning to Pittsburgh today, said 1st Lt. Christopher Preffer, public affairs officer.
“We expect 20 troops, give or take five,” he said, “We never know exactly how many are coming until they arrive.”
The troops left the 171st, based in Findlay, in March to support Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya, according to Preffer.

“This is a series of jets returning home,” he said, with two others slated to return Saturday and Monday.
The troops are expected to arrive around 10 a.m., Preffer said.
“When they are coming from that far away, we never know exactly when they will land,” he said. “They could get in bit sooner if they catch a tail wind.”

The troops were were integrated into the 313th Air Expeditionary Wing to help refuel U.S. and coalition planes that were enforcing the no-fly zone over Libya.
Family and friends are expected to greet the troops at the 171st Air Refueling Wing at Pittsburgh International Airport.
