Cancelled: Route 65 Work Continues this Weekend from Avalon to the McKees Rocks Bridge

The work is part of an overall 5-mile project.

This work has been cancelled due to rain in the forecast, according to PennDOT.

If you're heading to Pittsburgh this weekend on Route 65, be prepared for slowed traffic. 

PennDOT is planning work from Friday, June 28 to Monday, July 1 to improve the roadway in Avalon, Bellevue and Pittsburgh.

The work is part of an overall 5-mile project to do milling and resurfacing, concrete pavement reconstruction, minor structure improvements, updates to guide rail, drainage and traffic signals, curb improvements and other minor work in Emsworth, Ben Avon, Avalon, Bellevue and Pittsburgh.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction around the clock beginning at 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday from Elizabeth Avenue in Avalon to the McKees Rocks Bridge in Pittsburgh.

Crews will be milling and paving this weekend.  At least eight weekends are needed for paving and bridge rehabilitation. Lane Construction Corp. of Pittsburgh is the primary contractor. 

Access will be available to all businesses along Route 65 in the construction zone.
