2. World Vision: Become a volunteer or intern at World Vision in Sewickley and experience the joy of helping others. Feeding the hungry, supporting children in poverty and providing disaster relief efforts are just a few of the humanitarian efforts.

3. St. Vincent DePaul: This charity in Coraopolis offers a variety of programs to help the needy, including a food pantry, clothing vouchers, indigent burial and utility assistance. There are plenty of ways to give back. Monetary gifts, furniture, clothing, vehicle donations, or your time are greatly appreciated -- and always welcome.

4. Meals on Wheels: Volunteers are always needed for the North Boroughs Meals on Wheels program, which serves Sewickley, Leetsdale, Bellevue and Avonworth, among other towns, whether you provide home-delivered meal services to individuals or in a congregate setting, such as a centrally-located senior center.

5. The Sewickley YMCA: The YMCA's "Faith in Action" program is always in need of volunteers looking to bring help and hope by providing transportation for seniors. Volunteers simply pick up a care receiver at home, take that person to an appointment or treatment, and bring the person back home again. No specialized equipment or skills are needed, just a caring heart.

We know this doesn't begin to cover every wonderful organization. So feel free to log in so you can post your "favorite" organizations in the comment box below.
