Newsmaker: Moon Man Appointed to CASA

Paul Melander is the most recent addition to the foster care advocacy group's leadership team.

A Moon Township man has been added to the board of directors for CASA of Allegheny County.

Paul Melander, a township resident and managing director for FedEx Ground in Moon, was added to the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Allegheny County board earlier this month, according to a statement from the organization.

CASA is a nonprofit based in downtown Pittsburgh that advocates for abused and neglected children across the county, said spokesman Darren Ellerbee.

Melander has worked at FedEx in Moon since 1991, Ellerbee said.

"These two new additions will join CASA's board in implementing initiatives that extend CASA's outreach throughout Allegheny County, allowing CASA to continue providing effective advocacy for children involved within the foster care system," Ellerbee said in a statement.
