Moon Seeks Public Input on Historic Preservation Plan

A public meeting will take place next month.

Based on the results of an online public opinion survey conducted by Moon Township this spring, residents question if there are enough historic resources left to preserve.

“There certainly are” said Tracy Zinn of T&B Planning the consulting firm hired to prepare the township's Preservation Plan.  “In fact, Moon Township’s important historic resources date as far back as the 1800s and continue to as recent as 1965.”

Moon Township’s Historic Architectural Review Board is working with the Murrysville-based consulting firm to prepare the Preservation Plan.  So far, the firm says about 150 resources have been identified.

A public participation session is planned for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, in the Moon Township Municipal Office Auditorium, 1000 Beaver Grade Road.

The public is encouraged to attend.

The consulting firm plans to present the inventory of historic resources, give preliminary recommendations, answer questions, and seek public input.
