Moon-Area Fish Fry Guide for the Lenten Season
Several churches and volunteer fire departments will hold fish fries starting this week through the end of Lent, April 7. Here's a guide to when, where, menus and prices.
Moon Township Fire Department, 1000 Beaver Grade Road.
When/Where: Ash Wednesday and Fridays during Lent in the township's public safety building.
Time: Noon to 7 p.m. today; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays. Takeout only today.

About: Eat-in and take-out meals will be available. Besides fish dinners, menu items include shrimp, chicken fingers, fries and cole slaw. Sandwiches and desserts also available.

St. Joseph Church, 1304 Fourth Ave., Coraopolis.
When/Where: Fridays during Lent in the former school cafeteria.
Time: 3:30 p.m-6:45 p.m.
About: Dinner menu includes deep fried or baked fish with bun or roll, fries and cole slaw; fried shrimp, fries, cole slaw and roll; macaroni and cheese, cole slaw and roll; and ala carte items such as potato pancakes and haluski. Pierogies are sold by the dozen or half dozen.
Cost: $7.50 to $9

When/Where: Fridays during lent in the school cafeteria. No meals will be served on Ash Wednesday.

About: Atlantic cod with fries, coleslaw and a drink.

When/Where: Fridays during Lent in the Good Samaritan cafeteria (Jericho Hall.)
Time: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Meals served on Good Friday and pierogi sales will be available for takeout only from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
About: Dinner plates include fried or baked fish, crab cakes, shrimp and a special combination dinner. The menu includes a fried or baked fish sandwich. Eat-in dinners include entree, bun, choice of one side, cole slaw, dessert and beverage. Side orders available include macaroni and cheese, french fries and haluski.
Cost: $7.50 to $9.

When/Where: Fridays during Lent in the church's cafeteria.
Time: Today from noon to 7 p.m. and Fridays in Lent from noon to 7 p.m. 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Good Friday. Meals will be served in the church's cafeteria.
About: The menu inlcudes baked fish, tuna sandwiches, shrimp, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese and pierogies.

When/Where: Fridays through Lent in the school cafeteria.
Time: 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
About: Meals include a fish sandwich plate, Boston basked cod plate and/or Atlantic salmon plate. Dinners include two sides -- fries, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, green beens or haluski. Beverages include iced tea, coffee or lemonade. A la carte items include soup and pizza. Children's meals and weekly specials are available.
Cost: $7 to $10; $4 for children.
