Montour Trail Improvements Include New Gate, Shelter Floor

Eagle Scout David Taylor builds the gate as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Visitors to the Montour Trail will be pleased to find two recent improvements.  A new gate has been installed at the Old Beaver Grade Road access point around mile 3.3 by a local Eagle Scout and a shelter floor has been improved, too.

David Taylor of Troop 301 from Holy Trinity Church in Robinson designed, constructed and sourced all of the materials to complete the gate project.  The gate has recently become a bit of a tourist attraction.  On any given day, people can be found inspecting the new addition to the popular trail. Taylor undertook the project as his Eagle Scout project.

The second trail improvement is the addition of a concrete floor at the shelter at mile 0, directly off PA Route 51. Users of this shelter are noting the upgrade from the previous dirt floor.
