Let It Snow? On Google, Sure, But Probably Not Here

Christmas may be green in Western Pennsylvania, but if you miss seeing snow, you can still check out Google's whimsical visual effect.

So the tree is up, the house is decorated and the cookies are baked (or at least baking). There's just one thing missing.

Snow.

Is there a chance we could have a white Christmas instead of a gray and rainy one?

Probably not.

Charlie Woodrum, meteorologist with the in Moon Township, said residents in the Pittsburgh area would probably see "just a couple flakes in the sky on Christmas Day."

"Yeah, unfortunately it probably won't [snow]," Woodrum said. "On Christmas Eve we'll probably just see cloud coverage and near normal temperatures; it's going to be in the mid-30s."

Woodrum said on Christmas Day there will be a "slight disturbance" to the northeast of the Pittsburgh region that may result in just a few measly flakes falling.

The Weather Channel's call is that Western Pennsylvania will be partly cloudy and too warm for much snow, with a high temperature of 43 and a low of 32 predicted. There's not even a chance of snow forecast here until Tuesday.

Ditto for AOL Weather, which foresees a mostly cloudy day for both Christmas Eve and Christmas.

In the meantime, if you really crave a snowfall, join millions in typing "let it snow" in a Google search and watch what happens.

If it gives you a chill, you can clear it up by hitting the "defrost" button or by "scraping" with your mouse.
