Get Out: Fundraisers, Festivals and Friends

Here are seven events to check out in the Moon area and surrounding communities to make it a weekend to remember.

 

1. 

Find out what's happening in Robinson-Moonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Means Alumni Gym, . 

Why Go: Need some new threads? The 58th Clothesline and Used Book Sale has everything from designer men's, women's and children's clothing to fashion accessories, sports equipment, books and furniture. Sunday is half-price day, and Monday is $25-bag day. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser benefit the school, teachers and students.

2. 

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at

Why Go: Looking for some new reads for the fall? Buy a bag of books for $7 on Friday or for $5 on Saturday.

Prices: All adult hard-cover books are $1, and soft-cover books are 50 cents. All children's hard-cover books are 50 cents, and soft-cover books are 25 cents.

When/Where: 4 p.m. Saturday at .

Why Go: Take the family to the history center for its annual benefit featuring a display of antique automobiles, horses and carriages, and, of course, cocktails, dinner and a live band. The Sewickley Hunt and Hounds will make a special visit. This event helps the admission-free museum with new exhibits, lectures, films and the .

4. Just Between Friends Children's and Maternity Consignment Sale

When/Where: 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at RMU Island Sports Center Golf Dome, Neville Island.

Why Go: It’s time to shop for fall and winter clothes for babies and moms-to-be. Get there early to find the best deals, from toys and books to furniture and room décor.

Admission: $3 from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday; free after noon until 5. Free admission Sunday.


5. 

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Henle Park, .

Why Go: Be sure to visit the Leetsdale Garden Club’s fall fundraiser and enjoy pony rides and a petting zoo. The North Allegheny Fiddlers will perform at 11 a.m.

Admission: Free. Spaces are available for artists, crafters and vendors and begin at $10.


6. 
 

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Soergel Orchards Farm Market, Wexford.

Why Go: Spend Saturday at the opening day of the festival, which has become an annual tradition. There will be plenty of activities for the entire family, including hay rides, pumpkin picking and a cornstalk maze.

Admission: Free to attend.

 

7. 

When/Where: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at , .

Why Go: Learn how to make wine in a hands-on traditional way; you’ll even get to help crush the grapes. You’ll also get to sample the entries in the pesto challenge.

Admission: $35 for FHNC members, $45 for non-members. Children ages 16 and younger get in free. Admission includes both programs and one bottle of wine. Reservations are required; please call 412-741-6136 to register.
