1. Herbs and Honey

When/Where: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at , Sewickley Heights.

Why Go: Learn the best beekeeping tactics, and find the best uses for honey with the Western Pennsylvania arm of the Herb Society of America. Presenters include Bee Keeping with Robert Steffes from Burgh Bees and Pollinator Plants with Susan Parker.

Price: $20 per family. Reservations are suggested.

 

2. 

When/Where: 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at , Edgeworth.

Why Go: Take your canine friend out for Barktoberfest, a festival of beer, food, dog washes, live music and prizes. Jimmy Sapienza and the 5 Guys Named Moe will perform. There will be a drawing for a Carnival Caribbean Cruise at 10 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.

Price: A $20 donation gets you beer, cider, food and a voucher redeemable for a free dog wash.

 

3. 

When/Where: 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 616 Washington St., Sewickley.

Why Go: Celebrate with German food and an organ recital. There will be two seatings for dinner, 4 and 6 p.m. Dinner includes pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, sides, dessert and drink. Agoston Solczi, organist and choir director at St. Paul, will perform a recital featuring piano and organ at 5 p.m. The recital is in memory of Stephen Bober, a longtime member of the church.

Price: $10 for adults, $5 for children 7 to 12, and free for children 6 and younger. Reservations will be accepted through today. Call 412- 741-8484 and leave a message.

 

4. 

When/Where: 6:30 p.m. Sunday at , Sewickley.

Why Go: Sweetwater, in conjunction with the Mavuno Festival, plans choir day, an African-American gospel tradition featuring choirs from regional churches. Pittsburgh Gospel Choir will headline for the second year in a row. The  Home and School Association will have a reception after the performance.

Price: $3.

 

5. 

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Community College of Beaver County, Monaca.

Why Go: The 23rd annual gathering is a popular cultural event, sponsored by CCBC and the Logstown Associates Historical Society, that features native music, dancing, exhibits, seminars, food and crafts.
