Dog Days of Summer: Robinson Librarians Bring Pets to Work

Staff members at the Robinson Township Library celebrated Bring Your Dog to Work Day with their favorite four-legged friends.

Pugsly and Portia, two rescue pugs adopted by Robinson Library director Sharon Helfrich, milled around behind the Church Hill Road library's front desk.

Though the pair weaseled their way to the library's main reading area once, Helfrich reports the pugs have been decidedly well behaved during their first library outting, wagging their curled tails at each patron who stops in.

Robinson Library today is celebrating with four of their favorite canine friends. Assistant library director Jill Antoline also brought along her dogs Simon and Mia for the day.

The holiday was 13 years ago by organization Pet Sitters International to encourage animal adoption from humane societies and shelters.

"We found it online," Hefrich said of the holiday. "And we figured we'd give it a try and see how the dogs behave."
